Amani Nature Reserve-  Amani Nature Reserve is positioned in Tanga Region, Tanzania which was established in 1997.  It covers an area of about 8,380 hectares of pristine forest including some 1,065 hectares of forest from Usambara Tea Company, managed as part of the reserve. There are amalgamating six forest reserves “Amani-Sigi, Amani-east, Amani-west, Kwamsambia, Kwamkoro and Mnyuzi Scarp”, public land and 1068 ha of forest donated by the East Usambara Tea Company into Tanzania’s first nature reserve. Amani Nature Reserve was created to protect the unique, biologically important submontane forest ecosystem of the East Usambara Mountains in Amani, Tanzania. Amani Nature Reserve`s main goal is to protect the unique, biologically important montane rain forest ecosystem of The East Usambara Mountains for present and future generations. The eastern part of this mountain is home to Amani Nature Reserve. This is a large proposition of the endemic species are found within Amani Natural Reserve. Today a lot of these botanical plots are derelict and bear local naturalization. The eastern part of this mountain is home to Amani Nature Reserve. The Pangani area has recently been declared a marine sanctuary.  Alien species introduced by the Botanical Garden are a major conservation issue for the Amani Nature Reserve.

How to reach Amani Nature Reserve:Reach by Road: From Arusha it is a 6 hour drive on a nice tarmac road. Then access to the Amani Nature Reserve.

Park Timings of Amani Nature Reserve:

The Park is open daily from 6.00 am to 7.00 pm.

Walking and hiking through the forestry is the main attraction. Well-established walking routes are present. While walking you have an opportunity to see black and white colobus, blue monkey, and the nature's main attraction, Nduk eagle owl, a species found only in Amani. You will also see nine species of African violet garden flowers and colorful butterflies some of them found only in Usambara . Other birds include green headed oriole, Amani sunbirds, Uluguru violet backed, forest warbler. To sum up the area has wonderful birds, butterflies, animals and plants some of them found only in this area.

Three routes have been established:

1. Kwamkoro - Potwe - Gereza - Kwagunda - Ubiri - Amani
2. Amani-Zirai-Kizara-Kwamkole-Mzia-Mashewa-West Usambar
3. Amani-Zirai - Kizara - Lutindi - Magoma - West Usambara
